I was looking through pictures that have been taken since October and wondering which were special or important enough to post and I decided that this HAD to be one of them. It's Joshua's classic response to any character. We've seen this face with the Easter Bunny, The Backyardigans, Sponge Bob, Scooby-Doo, and any other person/animal that has been larger than life. I should be ashamed, but it makes me laugh everytime.

First Trip to the Beach

Back in July, we made a trip to New Orleans for a wedding and decided to take the boys for their first trip to the "beach". We drove over to Biloxi/Ocean Springs and spent about an hour walking the shoreline. The boys had a blast and ask quite frequently when we can go back.

I'm so glad that we live in an area when we can experience so many different

attractions while making short weekend trips.

Some of you may not know, but his birthday was June 21st. It has just taken us this long to actually HAVE a party. That should tell you how our summer has been. I love taking pictures of the boys outdoors, so they have to put up with a lot during the Fall. We went onto campus this afternoon and took a few while they played. It was very hard getting pictures that were not blurred by their activities. (Joshua especially)

I just thought that these were some good "big boy" pictures of Aaron. They were taken in his bedroom before we left for church. He loves to dress for church and wear his "Poppi belt". He now sits in the worship service with us. (He's too old for the nursery...it's not our choice...are you kidding me?) He's done pretty well so far...we'll see.

I was thinking the other day about the little things that we take for granted. As I drove down the road (don't worry, I was concentrating on driving too...) I had the urge to turn the rearview mirror down to see the boys. There were their sweet facing smiling back at me. Sometimes I get in such a hurry that I forget to thank God for these "small" gifts. They remind me daily to enjoys the little things in life from small insects to hugs and pats on the leg. Nothing is so sweet as hearing, "I love you Momma."

Joshua has become such an active little boy. No longer do I consider him a baby. He's just ALL OR NOTHING all the time. 110 % BOY!!! These are a few photos I took of him playing in the yard. This photograph was taken sometime in August at Darden Lake. Aaron and Poppi (Holly's Daddy) really are the best of friends. Not a day goes by that Aaron doesn't say something to me that ends in, "just like Poppi, Momma!" I'm so glad that we live close enough for them to visit often. Daddy and Lowell have a real responsibility in molding these two boys whether they know it or not. I'm glad that the Lord has blessed our babies with two wonderful grandfathers. (We'll talk about the grandmothers later, hahaha)

Russell is a friend from Starkville that is currently serving in the mission field of Hondurus. Each day he writes on his blog ( www.honduruss.blogspot.com ) about "the goings on" and what he sees God doing around him and in his own life. Some pretty awesome stuff has been happening and I'm so thankful that he's sharing his experience with others in this way (the blog). I want everyone to read his entry from June 19th, 2008 ASAP! Life flies at us so fast that most of the time we forget to be thankful for all of God's gifts. We spent last weekend in Starkville with Daniel's parents. Aaron had a wonderful time with Scrappy and BaBa but I think he had the most fun with his Great Grandma. They did all the things that boys like most: Picking up sticks and pinecones in the yard, making sheet tents in the livingroom, playing with the dog, and eating good home cooking. Thanks Grandma! Joshua spent most of the time with Grammy and Poppi at their house. He has had a fever for a few days and Grammy is a great nurse. Thank you Grammy!

We took Aaron fishing today at the pond on campus. It was a lot more pleasant out than I imaginged it would be...the light breeze helped. He bought his first fishing pole this afternoon at Wal-Mart. He calls it his "fishing pold" (It has "Lightning McQueen's" racing number on it) He's very proud of it. He just couldn't understand why we don't keep them in the house. We didn't catch a single fish but had fun watching the ducks. Aaron was very satisfied with just passing the time playing with unused corks and throwing rocks into the water. Joshua is spending a few days in Starkville with Momma and Daddy.

Last night, we went over to my friend Charlene's house (it's our preacher's house too, but Charlene is who I went to see, hahaha, sorry Jason) to eat dinner with a new friend. His name is Justin Peters. He was the speaker for revival at our church this last week. We really had a good time and planned on staying for just a little while, we ended up not getting home until about midnight! Time flies!...While we were there, we played Wii bowling. This was our first experience with the game system...We still have the original Play Stateion around here. (We're not much on video games) It was surprisingly fun. I just hope Daniel doesn't want one. This post is not very informative, but I at least wanted to post the picture of the boys with Justin and Charlene.

We took Aaron to the Memphis Zoo yesterday afternoon. It was a beautiful day and there was just enough breeze to keep us from burning up. The animals seemed to be affected by the heat as well...most of them were under trees and not moving much. I think Aaron would have enjoyed it more if he had seen them walking around more. He had a good time though. Joshua did better than I thought he would. We were walking around for about 3 1/2 hours. They need to make strollers for parents!!! I'm posting a few of the pictures that we took. We plan on taking Aaron back when he is a little older. Enjoy!

Enough to Melt Your Heart...

"Momma, I'm talking to God..." (he then grabs hold of my hand) My heart is blessed every time.
Aaron is now "in the habit" of saying his own prayers at bedtime and the blessing before each of his meals. It's enough to melt your heart... he is very thorough in his praying (not forgetting anyone or anything dear to his heart). I knew he was truly thankful for the meal prepared the other day, when he said "...and thank you for Joshie's muffin..." and the list went on. Prayers are lifted for "...my friends and thank you for my family..." everyday. Yes, I have captured some of these moments on film for the future for those of you questioning. This is one of my favorite times of the day and I just wanted to share this glimpse with you.

Our Week So Far...

Our week so far has been good. Daniel has exams this week so we've had some late nights of studying. Both of Joshua's ears are still infected, but he's acting like he feels so much better. Today, Daniel and one of his buddies from school, Thomas, went to play disk golf in New Albany. The boys and I went along to play at the park. Aaron loves the park and can be persuaded to do just about anything to be able to go. That comes in handy when his room needs cleaning. (Too bad he can't wash and fold clothes.) The boys are waking up from their naps and we need to get ready for church. We'll write more tonight maybe.

An afternoon at the Lake

The four of us met Momma and Daddy at The Lake for dinner last week. It was the first day we've had the boat in the water this season. Aaron was very excited to go for a ride but it was still a bit cool to really enjoy it. I look forward to a summer full of swimming and boat rides. As you can tell from the picture, we took a drive even though it was cool.

We decided to put a garden in this spring. It's in our side yard (out of the way). It has definately been a family affair. Daniel and I put up the fencing and plowed the rows and he and Aaron planted the seed, etc. We've had several good rains on it since it was stared. Hopefully our efforts will not be in vain. Aaron planted squash, zuchinni, okra, tomatoes, and will plant the green beans when we get the poles for them. Joshua watched from his pack-n-play.

There's not much time to write tonight, but I thought I'd post some new pictures anyway. The boys had a blast tonight during bathtime. It's the first time that I've had to use a fan to dry out the flooring after soaking the water up with a towel. (That should tell you how much "fun" they had.) Joshua got a trim (not a real haircut) today....He was looking a little shabby....his straight hair can't be left alone like Aaron's curls were. I think he looks so handsome. Aaron got a new basketball goal for his bedroom this morning. He's been shooting hoops all day. He's pretty accurate for a 2 year old. I'm going to write more later...sorry this is so short, but it gives you a small glimpse into our week.

Our Last Snow Day

Saturday morning, we woke up to find the ground covered in snow...Aaron remembered the little bit we had last month and got very excited. We could not get him dressed fast enough! We had a little over 3 inches. Just enough to play but it was wonderful that it was gone the next day. Aaron had so much fun playing but decided that his mittens were just getting in the way, so...he took them off. He would not let me put them back on and I just let him play without them. You can tell by his expression in the pictures that he was cold. We kept trying to to him in to warm up, but he was not having that.

On another note, my grandmother passed away on Sunday night at about 10:00. It was such a sweet time. She went very peacefully. Family was surrounding her. Thank you so much for all of your prayers for us. We really felt the presence of the Lord during the whole week at the hospital and as we are approaching the visitation tonight and funeral tomorrow, we are all in such good spirits knowing that she is with the Father. Her body will be buried on top of Lookout Mountain where she and my granddaddy lived for some time. Please pray for traveling safety as we have friends and family coming from all over the country.

My Bertha Lou

For those of you who have not heard me speak of my grandmother (Grahmuh a.k.a Bertha, Inelle, Inella Bella....) She lives in Tupelo, MS in a retirement community. In the last few years, she and my granddaddy have had to adjust to living separately due to her onset of alzheimers. It has been a long road....they've been married over 60 years. Her mental function is not what it has always been, but she still recognizes family and close friends, etc.

Last weekend, she fell going into the hallway of her building. She has a nasty bruise on her forehead and other complications have developed. Long story short, she's not doing well at all and is in the hospital there in Tupelo. The doctors are very cautious in deciding what to do for her. They told my mom and her brothers to call the family to come. We're just waiting now... for what, I'm sad thinking about. It's hard to say goodbye to one of my best friends. The tests from this morning show that she has had a heart attack since being in the hospital. Things don't look good, but I know that God is in control of the situation. I feel such a peace, however, about the whole thing. Grahmuh is a believer and will soon be in the arms of our Lord. I wish I could see her face when she gets there! Please keep my family in your prayers as we go through this difficult time. (Especially my mom and granddaddy) Thank you in advance. Love, Holly

Was it Time for a Haircut?

After seeing Aaron with his hair "fluffed up" in the last post, I thought to myself, "Is it time for a haircut?" I didn't worry about it too much because I really like his curls. (When they are fixed correctly and not just out of bed.) A few days have passed and last night, I jokingly asked Daniel if Aaron needed a haircut. I expected a jokingly answer. No laughing, joking, etc. His answer.... YES! I knew I had let it go for too long. He was embarrased that his some had "girly" hair. Well...I got out my scissors and comb and went to work. Hair was flying everywhere and what looked like a small lap dog was on the floor under his chair when all was done. Giving Aaron haircuts has never been an easy task. He, like most little boys, likes to fidgit, shift positions, and turn his head to talk to momma every couple of seconds. It used to take me about 45 minutes to get his hair in any decent form of a haircut, but last night it only took about 20. I was proud. I'm going to have to get used to it but I like it. Daddy says that now he has a real "big boy" haircut. (The curls will grow back to those of you wondering....we've cut them 4-5 times already) You can see from the pictures, his beautiful hearing devices are very prominant with his new "do". Enjoy!

Today's PLASCECTOMY!!!!

Today, I cut up 4 credit cards!!! (a plascectomy for those of you not familiar with Dave Ramsey) Yeah!!! I'm so excited. Daniel and I also filed our taxes tonight, so I'm feeling very relieved and stress free in the financial world. The boys are in the bed but we had such a good time playing in the bathtub tonight. They are so funny interacting with each other. The photos I'm posting are from their playtime and the one of Aaron puts me in mind of the time Grandma put rods in Daniel's hair because he wanted a "perm" too. It's amazing how curly Aaron's hair is. It's a shame for a boy to have such pretty hair. Joshua's hair is as straight as a board. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Our New Stroller

I feel so blessed that we live in a town/neighborhood where it is still safe to play outside with the boys. May people take that for granted. My mom and dad gave the boys a new stroller for Christmas this last year. I absolutely love it. It is so much easier to push than our old one and it's a lot smoother ride for the boys. We like to walk whenever the weather permits. Aaron especially likes to walk by the duck pond. (One time a goose chased us!) I am amazed at how the neighborhood is such a wonderful "classroom" for him. He doesn't miss a thing. (Joshua is usually asleep by the time we reach two or three blocks over.)

Joshua has grown so much in the last few weeks. He is now crawling like a mad man, following Aaron around, and eating all kinds of new foods! Joshua also will no longer stay on his bathtub seat. He insists that he can play in the tub like brother. When they play together, I might as well plan on mopping the floor. It makes me nervous sometimes. This week, he started "talking" more. He says "BaBa" which is what Aaron calls Cindy. I guess I'll let her think that he's saying her name....He's really saying "MAMA"!!! Aaron said "Daddy" long before he ever said "Momma" so I'm claiming this as my turn to be first.

It snowed in Blue Mountain this week. Aaron had never seen snow before. I wish there had been more for him to see, but he got the general idea. He was very disappointed when it disappeared.

Many of you have not seen updated pictures of our boys. Aaron is now 2 years and 4 months old. Joshua will be 8 months old on the 21st. I would have never believed that brothers could be so different. Aaron weighs 26 lbs. and Joshua is up to 19.6 lbs. Aaron better watch out! Joshua is already tackling him for his snacks. Both boys are very loving and are fun to be around.
